A Before & After

Connecticut Antique Farmhouse Redux

Build in 1850, a traditional colonial home, with a school-house addition in 1870, then further expanded with a tobacco barn in the 1890s.  Over the years, the now 3-family home, was in sad condition.  Rather than demolish, the owners wanted to maintain the look and feel of the antique home, but needed to update, modernize, and make the three interconnected buildings into one cohesive home.  Below are a few of the before & after photos.

Kitchen & Breakfast Room

Sometimes nothing less than a full demolition and rehab will do...especially for kitchens and baths.

Primary Bedroom

Removing a few non-supporting walls, and rearranging the important furnishings leads towards a fresh take.

Family Room

Keeping the antique posts and beams, and refreshing the palette works wonders.

Dining Room

Removing an "extra" front door, and rebalancing with a pair of floor-length windows brings light and air into the room.
